ST. CROIX — Seemingly all of St. Croix filled the St. George Village Botanical Gardens on Sunday for the 28th annual Mango Melee.
“The question people kept asking is, ‘what’s the sweetest mango,’” said farmer and artist Luca Gasperi, of the south shore’s ARTfarm, who on Sunday presided over a table of diverse mangoes gathered from across the island. “There’s so much variety — in taste and in texture — that it’s not just about the sweetness, it’s also about the flavor.
